RoLo with Hector.jpg

Hello, my name is Louise and I'm the owner here at RoLo Home From Home Dog Boarding.

I live with my husband Rob, Willow (our Border Collie rescued from Wood Green) and Hector (our mixed breed rescued through Underdog International). We also have two grown-up children and two grandchildren. We adore our dogs, love walking and being outdoors.

We got our first dog, Pip (Border Collie) from the Blue Cross in 2003, followed a couple of years later by Megan (West Highland), rescued from a work colleague following a marriage break-up. We have also rescued a cheeky Jack Russell (Oscar) from a local dog rescue in Clapham. We lost Oscar after many happy years in late 2021.

Exactly 2 years to the day after this we adopted Hector from friends fostering him locally. He is the most gregarious boy and loves all dogs from Chihuahuas to Rottweilers. He is already well known and loved by all in the local doggy community.

Over the years we have looked after family and friends’ dogs so when I knew my contract with a charity as an HR Manager was coming to an end, it seemed to be an ideal opportunity to use my experience and expand our doggy family by starting my own small home from home boarding business.

Rob retired in July 2021 and now supports me in the business.

I will only ever board dogs when I can give equal love and attention to all of the dogs in my care, including my own. This assessment is based on character and mix.

PLEASE NOTE:

I will not accept any dogs for boarding until a meet and greet and free overnight trial has been carried out. Please allow plenty of time for this as we can only conduct trial when boarding numbers allow.

For further information and to arrange a meet and greet session, please complete the contact form and I will get back to you at my earliest opportunity.

I look forward to meeting you and your fur baby(ies).

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

“We feel very lucky to have found Louise. We used to have a wonderful dog sitter but then had to move city. We got used to having someone we could trust with our babies and were very sad when we couldn't use her anymore. We tried a few other options before finding Louise, but none were suitable. From the first time the dogs met Louise they loved her, she was calm and loving with them and they enjoyed her company.

We knew they were safe and would be well looked after.

She sent us reassuring photos and messages to let us know what they were up to, and we love her so much we plan our trips around her availability as much as possible!"

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you registered?
Yes, I am registered with Bedford Borough Council. 5 star Registration details will be made available to you during your meet and greet session.
  • Are you insured?
Yes, I am. Insurance details will be made available to you during your meet and greet session.
  • How can I be confident my dog will be happy at RoLo?
Upon successful registration, I will arrange for a meet and greet session as well as a trial overnight board. This is important for you and us to have in order that we can all be confident that your dog/s will settle happily.
  • Does my dog need to be spayed/neutered?
Yes. As soon as veterinary advice allows this to be done.
  • Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes, it is a requirement for your dog to be fully vaccinated. On registration you will need to bring your vaccination card, I will take a photocopy for my records.
  • Do I pay more for bank/public holidays?
No, the prices detailed on the web site are for all year round.
  • What else do I need to bring?
Harness, lead, coats if worn, bedding, food and any medications or food supplements.
  • Do you exercise the dogs?
Yes, your dog will have access to a fully enclosed garden as well as agreed exercise regime in the local area. We invested in artificial grass to ensure your dog can have year round access to the garden as well as joining Willow and Hector for as much walking as they can manage/want.
  • Will my dog be kept on a lead?
Yes, unless you have completed a disclaimer form, which will need to be done before every board.
  • My pet is on medication, what do I do?"
I will store and administer the medication as per your vet’s instructions.
  • What methods of payment do you accept?
    Cash or bank transfer.
  • Do you do a pick up/drop off service?
Yes, locally but there will be an additional charge.
  • Can I bring a toy?
Yes, provided it is not precious as we may have boarders who are destroyers of toys!
  • Where will my dog sleep at night?
Usually downstairs in their own bed provided by yourself. Sleeping arrangements and whether segregation is required will be discussed during meet and greet. These can include sleeping with Rob & I if your dog normally sleeps upstairs.
  • Can I contact you to see how my dog is getting along?
Yes, of course you can. I will also send you regular updates/photos/videos during the board.
  • Do you require a deposit?
I am aware that most boarders charge a non refundable 50% deposit. It is my intention not to do so, but I may have to review this for peak periods (eg school holidays). I also reserve the right to request deposits if I experience short notice cancellations.
